The wife and I just got back from Austin, we decided to attend the Music portion of SXSW, in her words, "before we're too old for it." Had a great time. Even though I've lived there before (20-odd years ago), it's still astonishing how many great players there are in that town. Every little pick-up band playing so much as a 30 minute off-site set was, at a minimum, fantastic.
Waiting (and waiting, and waiting, and waiting, but that's another story) for the Austin Music Awards to start on Wednesday, I noticed that OWC had a booth set up across from the ballroom. I walked over to say hello (and, er, claim a few picks from the swag pile). I didn't even know OWC had an operation in Austin until I saw their sign near where we parked the next day. Had a nice chat with the two guys running the booth, they were genuinely interested in getting feedback on current and future products.
And as for those awards, like all awards shows, it ran entirely too long, but once again: Austin, so the music itself was well worth the time, and the closing act in particular was off the charts: http://www.billboard.com/articles/events...sic-awards
