ugh, think I killed my iPhone 5S.

Had the bulging battery issue, just did the replacement on my kids iPhone 5.

Ordered the battery from Amazon, 4.5 star reviews and install went fine.

Kept randomly turning off when in my pocket -- maybe getting twisted? and dislodging the battery? Not a huge deal, plugging it back in seemed to "fix" it. Happened again yesterday, tried the same trick, nothing... so popped it apart and checked all the connections, looked good. Put it back together -- and nothing. doesnt get past apple logo, gets a blue screen, then a red screen and wont power off.

Had to open and again disconnect battery to turn off. Read that I might have put the wrong screw in one of the covers -- checked it, and think I did -- so swapped the screws around... and still the same.

so not sure if I should take it to be repaired at a local place, or just replace and sell as is on CL. It worked fine. its not in prefect shape, a couple of the corners are dented from a previous mishap, but cosmetic.

So, need a phone asap. On ATT and get 19% corp discount... so not really gonna change.

The question is -- buy outright or spread it out? get it from Apple with apple care? or skip it. Like the 5 size, but 6/7 inst killing me....

I replaced my bulging 5S battery recently. Now there's a vertical part of the screen that doesn't read taps. Sometimes there are faint vertical lines.

Could a dodgy battery alone do this? I carefully checked my screws and cable connectors.

could be the battery, but I need a phone now. worried that if order a new battery and it doesnt work, still out of luck.

not thrilled with having to buy a new phone... $

Me neither, I think I'm going to talk to someone at T-Mobile to compare family plans.

hindsight... but really the install was simple. Pretty sure its a bad battery. ordered a new one...
