Censoring harmless posts...
#1
I just posted a post in the old "Ubbi Dubbi" language from the PBS show called ZOOM that ran for some years on PBS stations all over the country.

We kids used speak and understand this language..it was posted to lure folks out who knew this language and maybe spark a funny memory.

The post was reported by one person and immediately taken down.

I don't understand how this is possible on this board. Considering some of the stuff that gets posted here it's pretty shockling that an Admin would respond that way to one singular person reporting it.

I try to give people a laugh in their day..sometimes I fall flat..even my posts fall flat every time does it mean that i shouldn't risk doing it?

I try to be helpful around in areas where I have knowledge, I usually try to stay with the OP until they are resolved..most don't.

What the hell is wrong with trying to inject laugh or a memory such a this in someone's day?

If one person gets it then is that not enough?

Nasty turn of events IMO and whoever reported is taking themselves way to seriously..the internet is ripe with things we disagree with..get a life.

I've had posts reported. And wondered about it. And then just moved on. You're more unique in your writing style than most, but hey... vive la difference !

Enjoy the day, Winter is not here yet...

I had no idea what it was, but I could see that it might have been interpreted as something translated to ebonics...

did the mod contact you and say that it was reported by one person? Is that how you know it was only one person? Did you have a dialog with the mod to explain?

....they [ the majority ] want you to conform here.....no room for any difference, want you to be just like them......no room for any deviation...any uniqueness will be quashed immediately.....sad to say but the tolerance level here is so low and over the most insignificant stuff [ probably why some members have 'taken breaks' from here, if you've noticed ]......

.....this is supposed to be a forum to share no matter what your knowledge level.....but there are times when those who are 'less knowledgeable' than others get treated 'less than' because they don't know basic information....to the point where it should be considered 'bullying' [ IMHO ]......

America has surely gotten into all this PC mess too much. I've seen some vulgar junk on here, and hate the mess, but I just leave when that happens. :oldfogey:

Kraniac,

Please review the private message that was sent to you about your posts and why they were removed.

Since this was now brought to the forum members inappropriately to review, for the record, one of his posts in this obscure language contained a profane word which therefore being in an obscure language, bypassed the automatic censorship module running on the server. That's a violation of the terms of service.

And it was not one person that reported it, it was two. Within a few minutes of your posting.

That's enough to get the post hidden as it was.

Thank you

Not ebonics..it was the old Ubbi Dubbi language from the kid's show on PBS called ZOOM..we kids spoke this language and it was fun..

the admin got ONE report and then indicated to me that one of his reasons was this:

--"having two reports within minutes of you posting should tell you that it was not found to be funny by your peers."--

the other was an extremely embedded cuss word...

The word was written as "fubuckubing"

I see cuss words on this forum all the time that are much less subtle than that and I do it myself and never have been censored..i never direct them at people..strictly colloquial and harmless
