Why does Google suck?
#1
Approximately 50% of the time (it might be less but it seems like every other time) when I try to use Google or Google Maps, it just sits there and won't connect. I can close the browser tab and try again and nothing. Switch to a different browser and nothing. Rinse, repeat and nothing. Then a few minutes later it will work.

While Google is being cranky, I don't have connection problems with any other site. Only Google.

That sounds like some kind of dns issue or something. Something isn't right.

I certainly have had problems with Google when other sites are fine, but I guess I can't complain when it's all free...

Lately, I too, have experienced more and more connection problems (edit: on my cellphone.)

If it is a "DNS issue" is there anything that individuals like me can do to fix it?

MRFriends - what OS and browser are you using? http://maps.google.com loads but no longer works in Safari 7 on Mavericks; I've switched to FireFox for that and a few other select sites that I know require "modern" browsers. You may be experiencing the same issue... Took me a while to figure it out, because it had worked fine up until Google and other sites issued some code updates to take advantage of features in newer browsers and dropped backwards compatible support for older ones that they expect users to have updated.

Works fine on macOS Sierra and Safari 10.0.

On the other hand, I don't use anything offered by google except youtube.

Not so much, v63—I never see ads there thanks to uBlock. Google knows what I like to watch but doesn't make any money off my viewing habits.

I need to check that out. They keep playing the same ads over and over.
