I recently ordered a Macbook pro for a colleague. I ordered it with the minimum config of 1GB which came as 2 512MB chips and ordered two matched 1GB chips from OWC to upgrade the laptop to 2GB maximum.
Now I have the two 512MB chips which I don't think I can use with any of my earlier Macs.
Any suggestions as to how I can use these?

Doesn't OWC offer a "Order our RAM, we'll buy your old RAM!" program?
EDIT! EDIT! EDIT!
How did you buy a 2X512 configuration?
All the MacBook Pros are a SINGLE SO-DIMM configuration.

If the 2.0GHz MBP is ordered with 1G, it ships with 2x512.

When you build to order at the Apple Store you can downgrade the memory to 2 512 chips and save $100 ($90 at the education store).
Do you have a link on the OWC buy your old RAM program?

Save it! I had to exchange our MacBook for a new one after a couple of problems popped up. It was nice to be able to take out the 2GB I added and pop the original sticks in before I returned it. If I had sold them as I was considering doing, I'm not sure what I would have done when I returned the 'Book.

Nope, and I might be totally wrong (like that ever happens), just read something from OWCLarry about it, might have been MacPro memory only. Maybe if you email OWC?

I was talking base configuration.
In which all MB Pro's are a single SO-DIMM.
He was saving $100.
What you are doing is spending an extra $100.

If you know someone with ONLY 1GB of RAM in the MBP (single chip) you could gift them with a 512MB chip to bring them up to 1.5GB. Or sell it to recoup some of YOUR investment in bigger chips.
512MB when added to 1 GB is nothing to sneer at... especially when the limit is 2 GB, and 1GB chips are still pretty pricey.
Strictly speaking, matched chips are NOT required in the current MB and MBP lines.

I just paid $38 +5 for shipping on ebay for one of those. Mine came with a single 512.
