AOL's Xdrive service
#1
5GB of online storage, free, if you have an AIM or AOL username. Seems like a decent thing, but the interface is just fscking awful. Seems to be aimed strictly at Windoze people.

Trying to upload anything is a nightmare. As far as I can tell, the upload applet can only see your boot drive, no other drive on your computer. It also won't upload any file with "illegal characters" in its name, but it won't tell you what files it's choking on, either. Obviously this happens in the middle of an upload, but there is no button for stopping the upload.

Whoever programmed this mess needs to be beaten severely.

I hear they're coming out with a paid service for $1,000/mo that does what you want.

Sounds about right.

Oddly, it seems to work better with Safari than with Firefox.

And after they get you to pay that much, the pump it full of ads. And all of your files you upload get stamped with an AOL ad. Add a music file? First 10 seconds is an AOL ad. Same with the middle and last 10 seconds. A graphics file? A nice, fat AOL logo gets embedded in them.

Probably happening now, that's why it takes so long to upload Wink

I think the watermarking thing is optional.
