I've also had great luck with Buffalo Tech wireless routers.

Now if I could just get a straight answer from them about whether their newer models will pass AppleTalk for printing to some of our older network laser printers....

Look into the Buffalo deals posted recently. Essentially the same hardware as the WRT54G. But avoid the current WRT54G models, the WRT54GL models are much better even if you don't hack them.

DO NOT get a Netgear-anything, no matter how free it is after rebates. Horrible.

my netgears have always worked great...

why do you need a new router? are you doing a ton of transfers?

cause even the fastest cable modems --6 mbps -- are still slower than 802.11b = 11mbps

my cable connect is 6M-12M depending on the time of day.
I may switch to Vzn FiOS though if Cablevision can't stabilize. Cheaper for a better connect, but they don't have TV yet, so rather pointless at this point.
In any case, after much experimenting, I've come to the conclusion that my old router, a Belkin "b", has croaked. It's choking the speed.
When I pull it out of the circuit, dl goes from 1.5M avg to 6-12M avg.

Your Belkin "B" router has a Lifetime Warranty, didn't you know that about Belkin routers?(Big Grin Maybe you could work that warranty into an upgrade...

I've been using an FSD-7230-4 for almost 3 years, with only 1 firmware update, and it's working perfect, and has worked perfect all along. If you have any trouble, Belkin has telephone live tech support 24/7 365 days a year...I know because I did my firmware upgrade online with a Belkin tech on Xmas Day 2004.(tu)

You can score the FSD-7230-4 for less than $40 if you scout around...I've seen it on sale for as low as $22 A/R.B)-
