I keep my MacBook on a USB cooling pad with 3 fans & as long as I remember to turn it on, the computer runs cool & the internal fan never comes on. Since updating to 10.4.8, the internal fan comes on fairly frequently. Has anybody else noticed increased fan activity since upgrading?

I just went to 10.4.8 on my new MacBook Pro last night (my 15" MacBook Pro is about 1 month old). By the way, how do I know when the fan is on or not? Can you hear it? Is there a control panel that says its on?

I'll have to check the firmware. I believe I checked it right when I opened it up and it was current.
