That's a pretty phenomenal deal for a new U.S. warranty camera. I paid $1600 for a gray-market version (which you should only consider if you have a strong stomach for risk) in 2015. It is an amazingly capable full-frame body. It was actually extremely well-featured at its initial introductory price (around $2300) and still has (my opinion) no close competitor in its price range.
I suspect that this move suggests that Nikon is planning to replace this model soon. Lately DSLR upgrades, with a few exceptions like the D500, haven't added significant value, so this sale provides an amazing opportunity if you were ever interested in an FX camera but were put off by the high price of entry.

Mine was stolen but it's a tremendous camera. Well worth that price in my opinion.

I bought the original of this design, the D600, referbed at a price point just a bit lower than this. What a great camera. I have been nothing but pleased. I even had it sent back to Nikon for a shutter replacement to get rid of the oil drop issues. The D750 would be a nice upgrade, but not sure I need it over the D600.

The articulating screen is EXTREMELY helpful.
