Business Managment Books?
#1
After ten years of being 100% self-employed, I've decided to try and learn some strategies to actually grow my business. A lot of the books that I've found and read thus far deal with starting a business and staying in business for the first few years. We're well past that. As I unlock the door each morning I wonder if there aren't some tried and true business practices or rules that could help me work smarter or better that I've never heard of.

Can anyone recommend a book or two on this subject?

I've never taken a business class in my life and pretty much base my business practices on what a seriously crotchy old scold of a body-shop owner told me (yelled at me) when I asked him how he stayed in business thirty years ago.

1. Keep overhead as low as possible. Even when you're making good revenue.

2. Actually that is the only business philosophy I know.

There's got to be more or better info out there than that.

Any help appreciated.

This website is the absolute best, even though it is focused on marketing. It has a wealth of business advice:

www.actionplan.com

Lots of free stuff; buy the Infoguru manual--best $80 I ever spent.
