This Canon 50mm f/1.8 II lens is in excellent condition and comes with the original box and papers, both front and rear end caps and am including a rubber lens hood with glass for protection. Used very little because I use my Canon G15 camera instead of my DSLR for this focal range. This lens is known as the "nifty-fifty" because of it's image quality and affordable cost. I don't have a problem with a mount being plastic as long as the glass is decent
an advantage to a plastic mount might be the plastic mount on the lens breaking on the lens before the mount on the camera - I'd rather be without a lens.

FWIW, on Nikon, and presumably Canon as well the lens locking ring is screwed on as its own piece. It can be replaced rather easily, assuming the break is limited to that element.
