Epix app on smart Samsung TV question

So the way I see it, if you subscribe to epix channels on your cable outlet you can activatee the epix app on the rv and then you can enjoy what benefits?

got it, signed in online, now the app on TV functions and serves up all programs that they have available.

Useful for TVs that may not be connected to the cable box only. Or potentially useful if you are recording max number of programs using your DVR box. For me, most of these apps are useful on the phone knly, particularly if they allow downloads to watch on the plane (EPIX does, HBO not). But my daughter has a Roku TV in her room without a cable box and pay TV apps are useful for her.
