Another closeted GOP "family values" predator who was in Jordan's circle

These folks are just plain creepy.

In November 2017, a rising star in Republican politics, Wesley Goodman, was forced to resign from the Ohio State House seat he’d won the year before. A staunch family values Republican, the married Goodman had apparently had sex with a man in his State House office. When confronted about the incident by Ohio State House Speaker Clifford Roenberger, Goodman resigned. What quickly emerged was that Goodman lived a secret life as a gay man. But he also had a history of harassing behavior and at least one documented instance of sexual assault which remained secret even after it came to the attention of his de facto boss, Tony Perkins, President of the Council of National Policy.

Yup. That Tony Perkins. "Family Research Council" Perkins.

Before going to work for Perkins, Goodman had been a staffer for Jordan...Goodman had a reputation for propositioning and harassing young men he met in conservative circles believing they couldn’t complain because he was a key player who could advance or hurt a person’s careers.

Listen, it's not unusual, even today, for gay folks to live closeted lives. It's something else again when they preach "traditional family values" while cheating on their wife and pressuring vulnerable young men for sex.

And the maintenance of power and privilege. Look at what #MeToo did to the same long standing culture in Hollywood. Having the same effect in DC (and state and local politics all over the nation) would be a wonderful thing. The culture, of course, starts very much at the top with the kitty grabber in chief.

These aren't just "gay folks." These are cisgendered gay white American men. In many cases, these folks identify hierarchically:

White first
Cisgender male second
American third
Gay fourth

When Gay ends up so far down on the list, it's easy for people to twist and torture that identity in order to keep the others secured. The kind of abusive behavior you've described isn't 'predatory/perverted gay,' it's a white-supremacist patriarchal American mutation of gayness that harms us all.
