Twitter to purge dead accounts - this should be interesting

I use twitter to follow journalists for the most part. I have 11 followers. 3 of them are legit - I have no idea who the other people are or why they are following me - I don't say anything.

So almost 3/4 of my followers are not legit and I'm not even trying to look like I'm popular by working to build that number. Imagine the people that Do care about that number... they are likely to get upset.

I don't do ANYTHING on twitter - there is no way to know that I'm even there. The 3 legit ones know me (and I know them) and they found my twitter account because they know who I am and looked for ME.

Maybe they are just waiting for you to do ANYTHING on twitter.
Maybe they know your political positions and are just waiting for an excuse to do you?.....

I think people follow people in hopes that the people they follow will reciprocate. I've noticed that people follow me for no reason, but since most of them fall away when they realize I ain't going to follow them back, my number of followers holds pretty steady at teeny weeny.
