Amazon just got real scary...
#1
Ran some errands, got back and checked on expected Amazon Prime delivery, and just for shiggles clicked on 'Track Package' button, and up pops Amazon logistics map w/ red dot about a block away, noting package to be delivered soon... red dot starts moving, slows, stops near green dot, starts moving slowly again until on top of green, then hear plop of package being dropped on landing, and package status changes to 'Delivered'.

Never seen that before, seemed kinda spooky.

it's been a while, it's called Live Maps or something like that. That only works when they use their own delivery people, not with UPS/USPS/etc.

In Communist Russia, package tracks YOU.

UPS does that (Live Map); I followed several recently deliveries using it.

Check the tracking again, It might even show a picture of the package on your doorstep.

Same technology that Uber uses to display how near your driver is - no big deal.

no big deal.

Well, not once you realize it's technology and not magic.

Amazon delivery already scary..I regularly, regULarly see them hurl packages over the fences of the condo buildings in my hood..a regualr old car, filled with packages, willy nilly..girls gets out with three boxes..whips em over the fence..big little..doesn't matter..i've them throw stuff 20 feet trying to hit the stoop..it's unreal.

My building is a corner building, lot line to lot line right on a pretty active corner..they never make an attempt to contact recipients..they leave them on the stoop exactly 1 foot above the sidewalk..no fence..zero inches from sidewalk...one of my upstairs tenants is a personal shopper and gets multiple packages every day...always on the stoop..she's had tons of stuff stolen..Amazon doesn't give a damn about it..I've never seen anything like it..

I thought you were going to say that it recommended a wine because you were cooking something that went with it. Now, that would be spooky,.but I imagine we are not too far away from that time (esp since they now own.WF).
