Unicode U+00D7.

On a Mac, type Control+Command+Space to bring up the character/emoji palette and then start to type the word "multiplication."

It'll pop up in the palette before you've finished typing.

...Or enter U+00D7 in the search field. It'll show the standard skinny-X symbol.

Double-click the symbol to type it in an active text field.

that is lower case x, "multiplication", and another lower case x. There is a difference but so subtle.

I’m surprised that the Phora engine let you post that character. It’s forever throwing errors if cut-and-pasted text from another source contains hyphens that are too long, or certain (smart? curly?) quotes...

Yes I was expecting the usual error but I was surprised when it went through. I guess I will try a copy/paste if the same string and see if I can repost it.
