Might be OK, a little on the high side for my taste. Depending on what they are using now, might be faster.
Id really want to add a SSD to make it last even longer. Guessing they use very little data, even a 128 GB SSD might be fine.... but
Do they use a computer a lot? I tell you, even tho my wife has a similar iMac with a SSD, she's prob only used it 10 times in the last 6 months. Maybe less. But her iPad... every single day for everything... uses an apple BT keyboard for long emails... or dictates them. Siri is pretty good with that...

They use computers lightly. My uncle is frustrated with PC and uses a computer for his consulting company - mostly scientific research (not calculation), so mostly he makes PDFs and stores them. My mom would surf the net and play music. In my location, Macs are hard to come across.

She sounds like a perfect person for an iPad. It excels at those things. lightweight, easy to carry, easy to read...etc.
No idea what apps dad uses to "make" PDFs...
Just thinking out loud.

I'm going to Hot Springs Friday and thought my mom or uncle might could use it.
4GB of RAM is skimpy for any recent OS.
