I heard 2 yrs before Apple will produce a folding phone.....seems like the news on Apple is so dreary these days...are the glory days over and it is becoming just another equipment company? Why don't they buy something meaningful? they have the bucks.

.....probably......their macs business is basically just being 'kept alive' since they updates are infrequent and behind the curve.....they focus on iPhone but are loosing share in India and China......
......they are hoping to focus on services like their new streaming service but even if that is a success probably won't help....

You mean a $2000 Phablet?
I heard they never will. Or Tuesday. Or in the year 2525.
Thats what my kid said. Cause she knows as much as any other person that doesnt work for Apple in the RD department.

They're working on making their company "thinner" and "lighter". It will be the thinnest Apple yet.

A folding phone is a gimmick.
But yes, Apple is way behind the curve.
Siri can't come anywhere near Amazon's and Google's voice-assistants.
The LG displays that they've been recommending in lieu of their own have all sorts of annoying hardware issues.
The MacBook which was a weak toy with stupid engineering mistakes right off the bat is not just 2yrs outdated, but is priced more than double what it should be for what it delivers and is largely redundant with the new MBA in the lineup.
The iMacs and iMac Pro were last updated in 2017.
They never delivered the wireless charger promised 2yrs ago.
No Mac Pro since 2013.
Pushing 3yrs since an Airpod update.
Last Apple TV update was 2017 and that was weak.
The current MBP has the same lousy prone-to-failure keyboard as the 2016 and saw only a modest bump in 2018.

Samsung is apparently the first to ship a viable folding-display phone.
It may not be the best.
Assuming it is viable, it's for a person how has deep pockets, figuratively and literally, and who values real estate more than thin and light.
It's comparatively very thick and heavy, by any manufacturer's current phones, and will ruin the line of your suit.
IF Apple does this, it will have to be a much better execution. There's no rush for them to ship a thick slab of a 'Phone, I'd think.
People keep expecting Apple to release the Next Great Thing once a year. I don't see Apple or anybody doing that anymore.
So I don't think they're behind at all.

Yes. Most influential Mac upgrades since 2012? Glued-in batteries and keyboards that break from dust.
I've been using an iP6+ recently, it's amazing how well it works under iOS12. I have an iPX due to work - but honestly, the only feel-great feature is wireless charging.
