Ours does and I'm tempted to rip them out.
Do you have telephone jacks in your house?

Only a couple, but I added ethernet just about everywhere.

I wouldn't rip them out since someday you or someone else might want to use them as pull cables to run another cable.

Two telephone jacks; both phones are rotary dial. The dial on the pink one still has the four digits that were all my parents needed when they moved to Baraboo in 1963.

Cut the line outside the house with the weed whipper accidentally. Ripped it all out and off the house. Removed all the phone jacks and wiring and replaced with ethernet. Buried the outside wire that wasn't protected. I'll never get a telephone or DSL, next person will have to call the telco and have them replace the DMARK.

We have 5 regular phones, although only one of them gets some use, and only because it's in the kitchen. Also have a multi-phone cordless set up, plus one additional cordless. And an all-in-one hooked in for fax as well.
Still on a land line, for no other reason than we have an ancient alarm system which can't use anything else. Will update it eventually and likely drop the land line. Good luck. - Winston

Yes.
It's how DSL gets into my house.

We never connected our house outside to the telephone company. But we have internal jacks that used to connect via a cable modem (that we no longer have).

There's still a connection but there will never be another landline unless someone forces Verizon to restore all those lines they washed their hands of after Sandy.
