Wow. You'd think somebody would have noticed the smell at least, although depending on the exact type of cooler(s) he was behind a steady stream of hot dry air might have mummified him fairly quickly.

Furthermore, I expect the local Health & Safety inspector will be fired over this because the reason for that 18 inch gap between coolers (or shelves) and walls is to allow for an easily accessible and inspectable place to put put pest control measures such as traps, poison, etc. The fact that nobody found this guy for TEN YEARS means that the store wasn't doing any kind of regular pest prevention at all, and that the local Health & Safety inspector was pencil-whipping his visits to the store either for a bribe or just because of sheer laziness.

Something I thought about when I read the article yesterday was I wonder how long he was yelling for help.
Sad situation. Having lost a child I know what it's like but to lose one and not know what happened for 10 years......
