Our Samsung plasma TV started regularly acting up for a second time with major new vertical (and sometimes horizontal lines). We fixed this for a time by cleaning all of the internal connections, but the new lines were worse than before. There is no clear long-term hardware fix for this, certainly nothing cost-effective.
So I went TV shopping during Amazon Prime Days, and found a nice replacement quantum dot 4k from BB. Was delivered last Wed.
So of course the lines disappeared from the plasma - hasn't shown a video artifact in at least 2 weeks!
Option 1: Replace the plasma (It's a wall mount) while the plasma still works, put the plasma someplace else (I have a good use) and try the connector cleaning trick when it acts up?
Option 2: Wait until the plasma shows problems again, take down, put the new TV up and clean the contacts on the plasma to see if it's stable again before installing in its new location.
Option 3: returning the TV is possible but seems like asking for Murphy to intervene again and signal the plasma should fail as I'm driving away from the BB parking lot.
So, MRFers, what would you do? Keep in mind that the wall mount replacement process requires at least 2 people, maybe 3 (and I'm solo on this for at least a week, so you have time to share your wisdom!).
