Few years back, installed SSD from OWC where stock drive was:
- moved the stock drive to the data doubler where optical use to be...

I think my upgrade to 16GB was within the last year? Not sure, will have to check my records on that.

Recently been running on with 27" HD monitor.

Problem: Fan spins up almost everytime immediately after boot up.

Will start some troubleshooting here, but thought I would see if anyone else had problems with fans not his model. Some of the things I will try:
(1) Try operating MBP without monitor
(2) Boot up from a different USER (maybe guest)

First step is to run Activity Monitor to see what's using the CPU so much.

It certainly doesn't have to be the CPU being over worked. The fan could be clogged. It could be defective. The mobo could be defective.

If CPU activity is normal, blow dust out of the fan by opening it and blasting it.

DropBox is sure being a Hog, bouncing up around 100% consistently at about once per sec numbers ranging from 90% to 130%)...

YouTube video currently running is at about 3% to 4%

Found these links, not sure if this is the problem (dropbox) yet that I need to be chasing though...

My DropBox version 80.4.126

In my processes, I see:
20 items called DropBox. the dropbox icon only shows up periodically next to one of them
1 DropBox Activity Provider
1 DropBox Finder Integration
3 DropBox WebHelper
1 DropBoxFolderTagger

I noticed the dropbox icon is disappearing/reappearing in MenuBar too... about once/er sec strange. Seems like it is stuck trying to sync a bunch of files. Maybe I should delete DropBox and reinstall it.


I have a locked version of Clean my Mac running that is reporting my CPU temp anywhere from 170F to 190F.

My battery is shot too, the light on the charger cable fluctuates between green and yellow. Not sure if I will spring for new battery or not.
