FU: iPhone SE Searching. It's never going to end.
#1
It's still stuck searching. I reset and did numerous reactivations on my own. No dice. I called support. I got one woman who sounded like an angry 15 year old girl, who audibly yawned as I explained my problem. I called back and got a nicer rep. They told me it is a reception issue - it isn't of course. All other Verizon phones work well at home and have for years. They're sending me a free network extender (a $250 value - like I was supposed to be impressed!) to boost signal. it'll be here Thursday. When it doesn't work I'll call them back. Very frustrated. They wouldn't have called me, I had to call them and pull teeth.

On the plus side when I complained about the bill they comped me $20, so there's that.

You should ask them to comp you your bill amount from the day you first reported the problem until the day they resolve it, since you can't use their service.

I had AT&T (landlines) comp me for 53 days on two phone lines for the time it took them to restore working service to me, they had to replace almost a mile of cable on their poles from the 1950s that used paper insulation and would short out whenever it rained.

Getting them to do that took a LOT of phone calls, I think I spoke with 17 different people until they finally got me in touch with the field supervisor in my local area that was heading up the cable replacement.

Is this post paid or pre-paid line?

So just to clarify: you DID try a good SIM on your iPhone and it DID NOT work, correct? why do we assume it is a Verizon problem at this point?

Please say if these combos you may have tried work (YES) or not (NO)

Your iPhone SE with good T-Mobile SIM

Another phone with T-Mobile SIM (just to make sure there is T-Mobile signal in that area)

Your iPhone SE with other good Verizon SIM

Another phone with your Verizon SIM

Another phone with another Verizon SIM (just to make sure you still have Verizon Signal in your area)

Also have you tried going some 20-30 miles away and try to see if you get signal there/ maybe there is something wrong with your local Verizon Tower and your phone or your SIM combo.

Sorry to hear that. That's where this is going.

20+years at same location. 30+ year account.

YES - but no TMO account. Sim is recognized at TMO.

Another phone with T-Mobile SIM (just to make sure there is T-Mobile signal in that area)

YES

Your iPhone SE with other good Verizon SIM

YES

Another phone with your Verizon SIM

NO

Another phone with another Verizon SIM (just to make sure you still have Verizon Signal in your area)

YES. Signal is 5 bars. Perfect.

Also have you tried going some 20-30 miles away and try to see if you get signal there/ maybe there is something wrong with your local Verizon Tower and your phone or your SIM combo.

NO. I can't/won't drive that far. I'm in school. Gas and time are limited.

YES

seems to me like your iPhone is OK then.

Another phone with your Verizon SIM

NO

So this points to an issue with your SIM

I forgot, you probably mentioned this in the first or second thread, but they DID replace the SIM, correct? maybe the new SIM is defective? try one more time

Or could it be that you (or the store clerk) mixed up the SIMS and what you believe is your new SIM is in fact the old defective SIM??? Or maybe they replaced the SIM but didn't activate the new SIM. Do you have the OLD SIM? Try it one more time please.

OK, I tried.

Since your SIM does not work work in another phone, it is either a problem with the SIM itself. You has so bad luck that the first one failed and then you got 2 defective new SIM in a row, a 1 in many billions chance but not impossible. Or is is bad batch, but then more people would complain. Or it is an incompetent clerk, but same thing, more people would complain.

When I say SIM, it is clearly the SIM itself or the account. It is NOT the phone, since that works with other SIMS, and your SIM does not work in other phones.

IIRC you said this was a grandfathered unlimited plan. Maybe Verizon is trying to kick people off and you are part of a test plan to see if their evil plan works?
