Just curious. I know it's still very new and even then only in select areas but when do you think Apple will adopt/add it?
So, when are we going to see a 5G iPhone? 2020?

5G isn't going to be at all like we are being led to believe it will be, at least not for the first few years.

What do you care, really?
5G is useless garbage right now. It's so flaky and subject to interference that they're relabeling LTE as "5G" because the 5G modems have to drop back to standard LTE as soon as you move into the shadow of a tree ...or someone walks past you... or if the humidity rises a bit. Qualcomm's 5G chips are so big and power-hungry that an iPhone 11 would have to double in size/weight to hold one (with the extra battery). Maybe in 5 or six years it'll be useful. Right now it's pure marketing BS. Stand in the right spot (in the middle of a street directly under an antenna) and pray to the right god and maybe you'll get amazingly high speed transfers for all of a few seconds before the modem in the cell tower overheats and kicks you back to LTE (seriously, this happens!). ![]()

I mentioned it before, Apple will have an in-house 5G modem for whatever new phone model they introduce in... 2025.
You won't see anything more than small incremental speed increases until at least 2023, assuming you have a phone that can light up a 5G icon. If you have a good clean 4G signal right now, you can typically hit your monthly data cap in under 20 minutes. Theoretically, 5G will allow that in 30 seconds. Data plans in the US will have to go through a monumental pricing upheaval before anything will really change.

I'm sure it will be long before Smith and Wesson offers a M&P 10mm.

Not anytime soon, and it won't matter anytime soon. Actual 5G won't be implemented until 2023 at the earliest.
