Seagate Portable 5 TB 119 -20 = 99 at Costco
#1
Since I have been looking for an external Time Machine drive to replace my WD My Essentials 3 TB, I thought I would give this one a try.

The drives showed up in the store a few days ago. , But then today, they were marked down $20.

Will see how it goes..

I was searching Costco website and its not this one:

But another same named drive with Costco item # 30055555

Not sure of the difference, maybe newer design, or something

Showed up at $89 for me! I wouldn't buy a Seagate, though. I've haven't had good luck with them.

Then I bid you well. ALL drives fail, sooner or late. We all know that.

I have a 2G of the same version I'd say. Never a fan of Seagate (WD for me), but it's been fine for the last 2 years.

I wonder if there is a way to open this case. Looks pretty solid. For future reference

Indeed.

I avoid Seagates from passed experience and stick with HGST or WD.

As WDs have been much cheaper on a regular if infrequent basis, that's most of my drives.
