I'll bet Jeff won't be giving up his private jets though!
Then there's the issue of all the jet aircraft, ships, locomotives, and semi's used to
deliver the goods to Amazon & to move products between AMZ warehouses.
That is where he could really "reduce its climate impact".

I think 100,000 vehicles will have an impact. Locomotives and semis will be electric, ships and planes less so. We can all do our part to lessen climate change and save money at the same time (says me with my two PHEVs.)

Once Tesla announces their truck, either Tesla or Rivian are going to explode with orders depending on what Tesla's truck looks like and it's specs relative to Rivian.

With his $$$$, maybe he should just buy raw land and start planting trees. With more and more the the original Amazon being converted to farming (and other activities that reduce the forests there), repopulating unused acreage with new trees could be a real boon for the environment. Then, years (decades?) down the road, selective harvesting and replanting could begin, returning at least some of his original investment. Maybe that takes to much foresight?

Trees are a net zero.

Erm... not in the US except for certain electrified cities. And then they need a separate locomotive. I don't really think any of the lines are capable of freight.... Always a great idea, but the infrastructure ain't there for freight (yet). Long range freight transport in the US is still tied to primarily diesel fuel.
Still... applause, but the main reality here is that last mile delivery vehicles in urban / suburban areas are PERFECT for all electric. Regenerative braking recovers around 70% of the energy consumed to accelerate to speed. And delivery vehicles do nothing but stop and start all day.
The USPS LLV replacement program only has ONE electric vehicle in the running. Hybrids are possible. Range does not appear to be called out in the spec, which is weird.

I think most locomotives today are electric, it is just the big honking generator that powers them is diesel. ;-)

Yep. Diesel Electric. My company used to make the electric motors for them. One AC motor about the size of a small SUV.
Why ? Because torque like you would not believe from 0 RPM on up.
