Hi -
Special request. Very good (and famous) customer of OWC and a good friend of mine is looking for a replacement Late 2011 17" MacBook Pro.
I won't drop names but you've for sure heard his group's music
Anyways, a 2.5GHz i7 would be absolutely perfect with either screen. Or a 2.4GHz in a pinch
Ping me back if you've got one collecting dust. I promise it'll go to a good home, let's discuss details.
Thanks!
OWC Jamie

I know 15” have GPU issues, are 17” also affected? Did Apple still make 17” in 2012? If they did, that would probably be a better choice.

Can we leave a demo recording on the desktop?
J/K, I don't have one to sell.

Yes, the 17” had the same issue as the 15”. The 2011 was the last year for the 17”. (I have a 17” on my treadmill desktop; the larger screen is very handy for the required greater viewing distance.). I also happen to have a Core 2 Duo 17” I no longer use.

The "Late 2011" 17" MBP was made up until late June, 2012. Steve Jobs EOLed it at the event in very late June, 2012 (I believe it was June 29th) by simply NOT mentioning it. I ordered one the next day and, it was delivered in a plain white box, direct from Asia, on July 1st (FedEx Overnight service). Mine went "belly up" about six months ago. I very recently found a company in PA who will physically disable the bad AMD Radeon GPU. The machine will then use the Intel GPU (which is supposed to be FAR more robust). I had upped the RAM to 16GB right after receiving it and, swapped out the 750 GB, 7200 rpm HD about two years later for a 1TB Sanyo SSD. I will be THRILLED to get my "baby" back up and running. The cost of the most is $85+ the cost of shipping. I expect I'll have my MBP on its' way in for repair by the end of the week.

testcase, that's interesting.
we have a 2010 17-inch sitting on our bench at work for testing purposes, such as remote control and system reporting.

Good luck Jamie - as a seller of used stuff on ebay, I can tell you that people have been DESPERATELY trying to obtain one of these so they can use it forever (ain't gonna happen). There are VERY few of these left that still work and those that own them will keep them until the are stone cold dead.
Advise him/her to move on...
