Spider-Man returns to the MCU as Sony Pictures, Disney and Marvel Studios announce a third movie in the Spider-Man: Homecoming franchise produced by Kevin Feige.

Earlier this summer it was reported that the studios couldn't come to an agreement to continue sharing Spider-Man, indicating the wall-crawler would need to leave the MCU. Fans were distraught by the news, especially considering the success of Tom Holland's portrayal of Peter Parker in the MCU. However, it appears the studios were able to reach a new deal.

Sony Pictures and Walt Disney Studios have announced a third movie in the Spider-Man: Homecoming franchise will be co-produced by the two studios, with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige on board the third installment. The studios also set the film to hit theaters on July 16, 2021.

Look, I'm just happy because I've been lobbying hard for JK Simmons to return as J Jonah Jameson (he was perfect in the initial Sam Raimi series in the '00s). We finally got him back and then, boom, I got kneecapped. Here's hoping we get a lot more of him & the Daily Bugle in the 2021 movie.

Great news! It's been so long since the last spiderman movie! Seriously... isn't this about 10 movies in 15 years? It feels that way.

That sounds about right, but they keep resetting the counter by rebooting the series... with a younger and less true to the comic Aunt May every time. I figure in the next reboot May will be Spiderman's cousin of the same age, and in the reboot after that May will be Spiderman's 8 year old niece.

Three for Tobey Maguire, two for the guy who looked more like The Joker than Spiderman, and now three for Tom Holland?
