Office Depot $6 iPod speakers showed up

They were absolutely misrepresented. There is no dock, and no USB cable as advertised. I don't know what they would do with the USB cable, because the only provision for an iPod is a little plastic pop out shelf that the iPod can sit on. My thinking is that a dock will at least allow me just to plug my iPod into the station and use it.

Even though these were inexpensive, they are no bargain. I'm going to look for someone with an iPod to give this to for Christmas. Someone I don't care much about.

From what I read at SD, most people came to the same conclusion you did. They are garbage and misrepresented.

Another sucker here - they showed up about an hour ago - I even went so far as to peel up that piece of white cardboard on the pop-out shelf, thinking (and vainly hoping) that there must be a dock connector under there somewhere. Looks like I'm set for the office white-elephant gift exchange for a couple of years now.

Carnos Jax and others. Peeps at SD have called to returned them, OD gave them credit back on their cards and told them to keep or trash them. Not worth OD's time and money to get them picked up.

Me too. I got mine today and I think they were barely worth the $6, no more. I noted when I posted the deal here that they gave very little info about them. I am sorry that they were not anywhere near as nice as I thought they should be, since they had apparently been $49. I would have really been upset if I had paid anything like $49. I wonder if these and the $49 ones had the same SKU.

Sorry it was a crappy product. I had no way of knowing and I was the first one suckered in. I guess that old saying about if it looks too good to be true, it probably is held up once again. I don't think they said that it had a dock, but I also think they were intentionally vague.

Again, I am sorry that it turned out badly for all of us.

Edit: They did say it had a dock. Here is the info from their product page: This compact portable speaker system does double duty as a docking station for your iPod or MP3 player.
Now I am even more disappointed, they really did try to misrepresent these things. I thought I had just remembered wrong. I may have to send them an email, too.

They sound worse than the built in speakers on my Pismo. Tinny and small. Sort of like you might expect a $6 set of speakers might sound.

No redeeming qualities.
