cordless phone recommendation
#1
We need to replace the 5.8GHz POC that we have in our bedroom. There is constant static and you can barely hear people. We've got a bunch of 2.4 GHz, but I wanted the 5.8 so it wouldn't interfere with my airport signal. Well, it seemed to just as much.

So, my wife got a new 5.8, and it sucks just as much.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a pretty cheap cordless phone? No need for an answering machine, just the phone. I'm not really sold on 5.8... 2.4 or even 900 mHz would be fine. We don't travel that far from the base station, we've got a lot of cordless phones in the house-- just something that is CLEAR!

Thanks

find a 900mhz. in my experience they work much better than higher frequency phones. the higher frequencies were never really an upgrade.

Never had any trouble with the 2.4 GHz sets (and Airport). Just bought a Panasonic (base/answering machine + extra handset) was $50 at Buy.com after $20 Google checkout discount.

My cordless history:

Currently: Moto MD681 Digital 5.8GHz: 15 months use (not a current model) http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-MD681-Cor...B0000CDELD
Very pleased with it.

Previously:
Panasonic 900MHz Very good unit, but not digital nor secure.

Sonys & Unidens: Both sucked.

I've been extremely satisfied with Panasonic 5.8.
Two houses and the office.
KX-TG5240, here at the office.

But are there any that look nice?

I love the look of my Siemens Gigasets, but they're crappy phones. The stuff I see at Target looks like silver remote controls for a lunar lander, with 40 buttons on the front. I want something simple and classic looking, probably in black.

This Uniden looks--and works--great:
