NFL Talk: The Half-Billion Dollar Quarterback
#1
Patrick Mahomes now has the richest contract in pro sports!
NY Post
The 2018 Super Bowl MVP agreed to a mammoth 10-year, $503 million contract
extension with the Kansas City Chiefs that runs through 2031, the NFL Network reported on Monday. ...

After the Chiefs predictably picked up his fifth-year option in April, keeping him
under contract for the next two seasons, he was owed $27.6 million — $2.8 million
this year and $24.8 million in 2021 – the next two years. Now that will seem like
chump change. All told, he will earn a whopping $530.6 million over the next
12 seasons.

meanwhile...
Brittany Matthews is “so proud” of boyfriend Patrick Mahomes.
Shortly after the Chiefs made their Super Bowl-winning quarterback the holder of
the richest contract in sports history — a 10-year deal worth $503 million —
Mahomes’ longtime girlfriend celebrated the historic news on social media.

He'd have to stay healthy and his some marks to see all of that. I think he's worth it. I'd rather have a MLB or NBA contract since they're generally all guaranteed.

It's effectively a 12 year contract, works out to ~$50 mil a year. What will Professional QB's be making in 12 years?

A couple of Super Bowl wins in, who's to say we won't be seeing a contract renegotition?

Cleveland laughs in Joe Football.

Ok, no, we cry. We cry all the time. Then drink more beer.

The won Superbowl in 1970. It took them 50 years to win another one. Think of how many billions they've spent on players in 50 years to no avail. If anything, this dude is underpaid.

He needs a team and there's a salary cap, right?

There is a cap to protect the poorer owners like Mark Davis.
