I didn't watch the keynote this year and I though that they will release 10.16 in the fall. I had no idea that the next macOS will be 11.0
[Things I wasn't ware of] Big Sur = 11.0

From what I've read, 10.16 will be Big Sur on Intel Macs, 11.0 on Apple Silicon Macs.
The Keynote was terrific, but then unlike most here, I look forward to them.

I wonder how close it will be to having the same OS on the iPad and the Apple silicon computer.

They should have made Big Surprise 14, to sync with iOS/iPad OS. ESPECIALLY since the same apps will run.
Ideally, they should have called Lion MacOS 11, and gone with 11.x until iOS got to 12, then they should have sync'd. Apple knew this was coming, didn't they?

Or they should just call it by the release year.
macOS 20, iOS 20, tvOS 20, watch OS 20 and get done with it. This way people are also aware of how old their OS is and may compel them to upgrade more frequently.

These go to 11!? Then they must be better (or at least louder).
