I did not know this about ApplePay
#1
Since the chip cards came out and the card readers got better/faster/more reliable, I had kinda cooled on Apple Pay - I had to wake up my phone, find the wallet app, select my card, then put my finger (print) down...

My wife (the non-techie in the family) said, you don’t have to do that. When it’s time to pay, just put your finger on the home button, that’s all. Your phone figures out what you’re doing. Buh-ding!

...and she’s right. Now (particularly now, with Covid) I’m using Apple Pay again. No touch (other than the home button).

You may have already known this, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out I was making things more complicated than they needed to be...

The official drill is double tapping the Home button or the side button while the 'Phone is asleep will open it to Apple Pay.

I didn't know about just holding your digit on the Home button.

But in my defense, I use my Watch.

I'm still surprised that people do a double take, though they are familiar with using a phone or 'Phone.

Yep, with my SE it 2 clicks on the home button. Scroll to the card I want... boom. Easy peasy. Used it 3 times yesterday even. =)

Another bonus is the added security over cards -- a unique number is generated everytime u use it. all good.

I love using Apple Pay with the watch. So easy, fast and I don't have to touch anything. One of the few things I still like about the watch.

Double tapping the power button from sleep brings up ApplePay on XR/XS
I use ApplePay at my local AM/PM when I’m not near Costco.

I like it to unlock my Mac as well.

This is so cool. Thanks. Of course I just use my watch anyway.

I've only been able to get Applepay to work one time, on a vending machine. Every other time it comes up and nothing happens. I gave up and just stick my chip in.

The only times this happens to me is when there are 4-5 other younger customers in line behind me.

Delete and re add the card?

I rarely use cards anymore. I even go out of my way to use places that take AP. cant figure out why lowes/HD cant get their $%^& together.

Right now I have my OG SE in a thin clear minimalist hard plastic case, its small, light, easy to slip in a pocket, or a car's cupholder, with one handed use -- iOS 14 has given it a new snappiness.

Wish they had a newer model with say, like XR or XS innards, id buy in a second.
