Huh. I did not know that.

Wikipedia adds that his parents were immigrants to the US from Romania and Ukraine (prolly USSR at the time).

Also, that Alpert co-founded A+M records (with a guy named Jerry Moss, thus “A+M”)

Personal tidbit: as a teen, I found this album cover strangely umm…compelling, y’know?

I'm not sure if I formally was told this, but I always assumed he was Jewish.

Interesting story about Monticello. The documentary is currently being streamed at the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival. I believe my parents bought a subscription, so I'll have to check it out.

Do a google search for 'monticello levy family'. There are lots of informative entries and articles going back decades.

As a 10-11 year old boy, I studied this cover intensely. I also loved the music!
