Yacht Rock
#1
Wife put on a yacht rock playlist last night,
https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/yach...505e5d32d9

And I realized that
"What A Fool Believes" by Los Hermanos Marihuanos sounds sooo much like
"He's So Shy" by the Pointer Sisters!

My daughter asked "Dad, what IS yacht rock?"

I thought about it...
"It's what people in their 30s and 40s listened to in the mid to late 70s....It's basically Easy Listening music, the Boomer equivalent of Lawrence Welk and pre Rock-N-Roll Pop Music....Think adult bubblegum. Not Hard Rock, not R&B. Kinda whitebread, but good"

Anybody have a favorite or forgotten tune?

"Magnet and Steel" by Walter Egan comes up pretty frequently on the XM Yacht Rock channel. I made a lot of mix tapes with that song...if you know what I mean.

That's crazy... without even looking at the Wikipedia page, I'd nailed some of the songs.

I also just Googled and found this:

^ That is some serious over-analysis.

So, basically soft rock, or in radio terms, Adult Contemporary.
