Pence: “There is no room in this party for apologists for Putin"

“There is no room in this party for apologists for Putin. There is only room for champions of freedom.”

Twitter is all atwitter about a speech that Pence is going to deliver tonight. Despite the thickest teflon coating in history, I don't see how Trump can succeed with his Putin statements on the record. He will fade slowly, then quickly (assuming he's not already in jail)

A sizable portion of Trumps base would volunteer for the Russian Army if he said too. They are as far removed from questioning as Scientologists are.

Perhaps it's Pence who sees a path down the middle.

Though how did Pence's outlook on the wider world be viewed as "middle" when not that long ago he was extreme. Jeez.

Normalization is a blessing and an evil.

I follow a few wingnuts on Facebook for this exact reason: to take their pulse. Thus far, they are anti Putin but still pro moron.

He's still extreme.

But he also knows what things are like when you have a madman armed with nukes.

I think the author of that article is giving Republicans credit a little early. At very least they're clinging to Trump even as Trump sends Putin flirty messages.

Many Republicans seem to be incapable of feeling cognitive dissonance so they can embrace Trump wholeheartedly while having fits about what Putin is doing in Ukraine.
