The world is changing and I don't like it [rant]

I don't think there's anything I can do about any of this. There's no sense in worrying or getting down about it. It seems like whatever I do, life is harder because of poor decisions made by other people.

Some of it is little stuff. For example, I went to buy some 24" x 24" pavers to extend a section in my yard, and that size is nowhere to be found. I can buy them by the pallet, but they're $$$ and I don't need that many. Fine, I'll shop around. Found some for $20ea. Oy. Went to 20"x20" at $6ea. Guess that works. But then I go to pick them up and quite a few of them were cracking and even splitting in half as I picked them up.

Or other things like I need a 19mm socket and both places I drove to (with gas now going over $6/gal and apparently we're prepping for $10/gal) no longer sell individual sockets or wrenches. Sets only. And they're all behind lock and key. So if I want a 15mm box wrench locally, I have to buy a whole set. Or $10 from Amazon. Theft is so rampant the stores don't want any little things that are easy to steal. We had one good local hardware store and they shut down because of the covid restrictions.

Meh.

The list goes on, but I should really find something else to do. Guess I'll go change the oil in the car... the oil that took me weeks to find because of supply chain issues, and then took weeks for it to ship even though it was in stock when I ordered. Not sure why it didn't ship. I contacted them two weeks after ordering it only for them to respond tell me "there's no reason it shouldn't have shipped already." Yeah, great, so why hasn't it? A week later it ships. And then the carrier keeps being delayed in delivering it.

At least it's sunny out.

There is a flea market down the road here. I would look there if I needed to pick up a single socket. Only open on the weekend though.

Hmm. Perhaps I should start a side-gig selling 10mm sockets in bulk...

BIG business is purposely killing off the "mom & pop" type businesses. Add in the fact that Big Business's ONLY concern is to maximize profits, NOT to serve the clients or communities where they operate. Then they wonder why their Big Businesses are NOT performing as they expected them to as they cut quality and service. :oldfogey:

There must be a special place where 10mm sockets go to hide. If we ever find that place there will BILLIONS of 10mm sockets. After that they will find another special hiding place.

Words have power. Names, even more.

Socket”.

10mm sockets are made with… missing sockonium.

The big sock industry will deny this at every turn, but the truth is out there.
