Sold a perfectly good RAID on ebay, guy fucked with it, now he's all "it's nothing but red lights" so I have to refund his fucking money per ebay policy. That's the last fucking time. I'm done. Never again.
Fuck ebay, I will never fucking sell any technology on ebay ever again

I had stuff fail on me without any warning, so stufff can happen. But I agree the risk is too high on eBay as a seller.

Do you get the RAID back? If he didn't break it and it's in good order, would Ebay take that in consideration? I'm guessing no.

eBay will side with the buyer is most cases.

Sorry dude. This is why I always sell AS-IS, no guarantees of any kind. Provide photos of the condition so there can be no questions. Can't really do that with a RAID though.

doesn't matter whether you sell as-is or "no returns". If the buyer doesn't want it (or can come up with a reason why it "isn't as advertised"), the seller has to take it back and eBay will force the refund.
sorry this happened to you, Zoid. Sucks when it happens, for sure.

This situation really stinks. Sorry dude.
I have recently been using this forum and selling things at less than eBay pricing to avoid the headaches. Not all items have a market on this forum though. Hope you can find a selling alternative that works.

Every time my wife sells something tech on eBay I hold my breath that it will go well. She hasn't had a problem with tech but has had several returns that seemed to be rather bogus. It's one reason that I've traded in a MacBook and a couple of iPads to Apple for new ones. I know we're not getting the most for them but the moment they leave my hands we're done.
Sorry that happened to you.

Amazon has warehouses of stuff returned for all reasons, dubious and legit, and they paid full refunds and return shipping, too. Then there's the Karen who chews up and spits out the customer service desk at every brick and mortar store. That's what you get when you deal with people. It's not special to eBay.
I sell on eBay knowing there WILL come a day (and has, though minor so far) when someone takes unfair advantage of the return policy. But eBay is the place with the largest customer base for my niche, so I "make it up in volume." |
