Does unused motor oil go bad sitting in the plastic bottle?

I wouldn't think so, but just wanted to be sure.

For background, I just changed the oil on my mower and I've had that bottle for at least five years.

Yeah, I wouldn’t think so either. Vegetable oils can undergo oxidation (and become rancid), but that requires aliphatic double bonds, and I don’t think oil for lubrication has any of those.
