I'd like a nice cleaner/polisher for our iBooks. I'd also like to know what is the best way to clean fingerprints off of the screens.

Suggestions? Don't touch the screen. If you see a boss, client, in-law or child coming, HIDE your laptop. iKlear works well, but some fingerprints are for keeps.

Fine scratches on the case? A little toothpaste on a paper towel. Test it on a bottom corner first.
Coarse scratches? I use Soft Scrub. There are also various other products known to work quite well and I'm sure others here will have their favorites. As for the screen, use nothing but water or cleaning agents designed specifically for LCD screens. Dampen a soft lint free cloth and wipe GENTLY in straight lines side-to-side and up and down -- not in circles. If it looks like a smudge is permanent, leave it alone -- rubbing too hard can easily mar your screen worse than a little fingerprint.

Unfortunately, the laptops ARE my children's. I am steadily working on their not touching the screen - EVER, but they still do it on occasion. Guess I'm going to have to cut all their little fingers off... ;-p

I just saw the Belkin LCD cleaner demo'd last week. Fast, no streaks, easy.

For the screen use small alcohol pads (70% Isopropyl alcohol). They come is small packets and are copletely safe.
For scuffs and marks (you really cannot remove scratches) use Mr. Clean Miracle Eraser. I can't tell you how great these are. Just try it and you will be sold. |
