Just bought a new Shuffle, but it's not for me.

I just had to do two things that I don't like to do:

1. Buy a cool new toy-that is not for me

2. Buy that toy at Best Buy

But that is what we did. Actually my husband paid for the shuffle, since it is a birthday present for his 82 year old mom. Let's hope she likes it and will use it. She has a G5 iMac that we can use to load her CDs onto it. I decided on the shuffle because the controls should be the simplest for her-I hope.

Now the reason we ventured into the dreaded Worst Buy was because they have a deal this week where you get a free $15 iTunes gift card with the shuffle purchase. I won't even get the iTunes card, since my 15 year old will be snapping that off as soon as she sees it. So do I get a "gifting leader" or something? We went with the original silver color as we weren't sure his mom was really ready for the new hot pink one. I really hope she likes it, and if not, maybe she will re-gift it back to me.

Well I just bought one, and it was for me. The lime green was just too hard to resist!! I'm a little ticked that I could've gotten the iTunes card. My kids would've snatched that up as well. Alas, I ordered from Apple so I could get it engraved, so the only goodie I got was free shipping (which wouldn't have been an issue at Best Buy). I guess that means I didn't really get squat!

Dude!? Don't you know there are absolutely NO deals to be had at Best Buy, ever, period?
Also if you ask for a leader you get no leader. Sorry, thems tha rules. I still love you tho.

Yeah, I hate Worst Buy as does my husband, but I just couldn't pass up the $15 iTunes card, even though I probably won't get any benefit from it. There just weren't any other good deals to be had on the shuffles. Sometimes the 15 y.o. picks some songs that I like and we can share, but there is only about a 50/50 chance of that happening.

Worst Buy wasn't actually too bad this time, we were in and out in about 10 minutes. Other than my husband declining to give them his phone number for the receipt and then the alarm going off when we tried to leave because they hadn't deactivated the little alarm tag, it was uneventful.

I think this is a great gift for your mother-in-law. When the original Shuffles came out, I gave one to my mother who was 92 and, even though her vision was extremely poor, she had no problem using the Shuffle. She always loved to read and so I made sure that she always had a fresh supply of audiobooks to enjoy. It was a perfect gift for her. It also works very well with older people who have hearing problems since it is so easy to adjust the volume.
