I love the emerging, well-distributed talent and competition as new dynasties rise and older ones fall back .
I'm talking about women's basketball. But the men's game is due for a shake up too.
Gamecock women v. Iowa in the Final 4 Friday night is going to be epic.
I'd rather see the best basketball, and that's kinda impossible now in the Men's game. The women's game just has to get more popular. The great players usually play all 4 years at least. Of course I wanted UCLA to knock off the Gamecocks. The game will be really good Friday.
Colleges and the NCAA have taken advantage of amateurs and overlooked women for too long. Women's sports are plenty popular when they actually get TV time, and long before that equitable treatment from school programs and the conferences.
I know people want the entertainment, so do I , but I'd rather the athletes be treated right.
It's two separate issues for me. I'm trying to enjoy sports. It's a getaway. I'm not gonna sully the fun with other concerns.
How college athletes are treated is more political (kinda) and it's to be addressed where it's appropriately addressed. I'm always willing to do that.
Me? I'm gonna put my Lakers gear on when they play, my Dodgers gear on when they play, My Rams gear on when they play, My UCLA gear on when they play, my USC gear on when they play, and my L.A. Kings gear on when they play. And I'm gonna root root root without a concern for anything else other than hoping for the victory while smack talking my team's enemies. That's fun.
