My G5 didn't come with bluetooth. Is it possible to add on the apple bluetooth module? Or was that only available BTO? If its user installable, can you get them somewhere?

Yes it is possible if you DIY. It's not an official DIY kit but there are places on the web that sell the module and antenna if you want to muck around. It won't come w/ instructions. You'll have to find a G5 tech manual, which is getting hard due to Apple cracking down on Internet posters. It's about $69 or so I think. Check small dog or Mac-Pro.com.
Honestly, it's probably easier and a lot cheaper just getting a dongle.

Its vaguely possible but its much cheaper just to add the USB dongle. I think there are many generic ones that work. I think they can be had for less than $20.

ah. Ok. thats fine too i suppose. i just have a soft spot for OEM stuff. But at a 3rd of the cost, I'll be happy to settle with a dongle.

It is doable.
I just use the dongle, bought a Class1 module from Geeks for nine bucks. plugs into the monitors USB port. Class1 has a range of 330 feet. Class2 has a range of 33 feet. BGnR

just read the http://tersus.no/bluetooth/ link. thats not that bad to install. one of the reasons behind going OEM was the fact that i don't think i have any empty USB ports.
