Tom's Hardware review of Dell 6k 32" Monitor.
#1
One of the most critical cons -

'Expensive'

Second :

'Not good as a gaming monitor' - only 60 Hz

[Note: not as expensive as the Apple 6k monitor, but I digress...]

Seems to be largely positive.

well, not as expensive as a week ago -- sale price now $2399 -- down from $3199 -- $800 big ones... My Dell account needs some use Wink

Now If I could just let go of Catalina and suffer with Ventura, and settle on a M2 Studio (prob 64/1Tb Max) or an M1 Ultra... Im in.

Wonder realistically how much $ I can get for a 27" 2020 loaded iMac... or if it can even be sold.

Dunno why he threw in "gaming" options, its not for that. rtings seems to base 90% of their reviews on "gaming"

I don't like it but the gaming market tends to drive the new tech and the economy of scale that leads to it costing less. At least that's why "gaming" accessories are often 70-80% as good as the high end stuff at 50% or less cost.

Always happy to have gamers pay $$ to help develop tech that I will eventually be able to afford!

I’ll give you $100 for it :-)

it will sell, but for far less than it is theoretically worth.

I just sold a nice 2020 13" MacBook Pro (the good one with 4 thunderbolt ports). Feels like the price on the used market kind of dropped off a cliff from what it would have brought under normal circumstances (assuming no ARM/Mx chip transition) for a 3 year old laptop.

Ive got a 2010 27" iMac for that $100 =). Runs surprisingly well -- specced with i7/32 GB ram and 1 TB SSD. But no 5K or USB 3.

Honestly, the 2020 is already paid for, so prob keep as backup. Was hanging onto a 2014 27" as a backup .. but guess it can go once a studio comes.

Technically (and even financially) I could order a Studio today... but the biggest hurdle Im afraid to make isnt hardware or software -- its the OS. Catalina (adult like) to Ventura (fisher price).

I'm running Monterey on my Studio. Went from Sierra to Monterey... that's quite a jump. No issues so far. Took a LONG time for me to transition. Still have a few things left to do, but once I dove in, I haven't even booted my old Mac Pro for anything.

Once I clear everything off it, I will need to sell the Mac Pro. It's a 2012 5,1 model that has lots of upgrades (USB 3 card, upgraded video, OWC Excelsior card, etc). I figure I'll be lucky to get a couple hundred bucks for it.
