What are those apps? How easy or difficult are they to learn for an intermediate level technical minded person? TiA

Kurzweil is an excellent software system that is used quite a bit in schools here in Iowa. The one form of Kurzweil allows a person to scan in text (textbooks, worksheets, etc.) and then the computer will read the text aloud. The second form of Kurzweil is a read aloud only system. Most schools have a limited number of Kurzweil scanning stations, but many more Kurzweil reading stations. (the scanned documents can be burned to CD and taken to any computer). There are many support features to the reading part, including glossary, speaking rate, etc. Many students who use Kurzweil develop skills in using the scanning and reading sytems without any teacher assistance. A great assistive tech tool for students who have significant reading disabilities. This allows students to participate in classes which use textbooks (and other reading materials) that have very high readability levels. I am sure there are other populations that would benefit from the Kurzweil system as well. Dave
