GM in talks to buy Chrysler
#1
The Germans want out. Not team players, as we already knew.

It is union ploy, maybe. Or the union should buy Chrysler. Or Exxon could buy, so they can continue to make gas guzzlers forever.

I don't believe it. Like GM needs more loser brands on it's plate. Geez they just got finished with killing Oldsmobile. I don't understand. GM could kill of Buick and no one would notice.

The talk the last week was Diamler wanted to dump Chrysler. I can' t beleive GM wants Chrysler. THey certainly don't want the financial part because GM just sold half their financial arm of the business.

But if GM bought Chrysler, they could shut it down and eliminate one third of the U. S. auto maker competition. Smile

Basically I don't pay enough attention to these kinds of things to be able to analyze them rationally, but we should keep in mind that Chrysler has been making some vehicles that have been popular for a long time. Mainly I'm thinking of their minivans and the Jeeps. GM never could manage to compete with the popularity of various minivans manufactured by Chrysler, but I don't know how sales of the Jeep branded vehicles compare to sales of the sport utility types made by GM. I sure see a lot of Jeeps around, though.

Buick is the best selling GM brand in China right now.

What GM, Ford and Chrysler need to do stop putting all their eggs in the truck and suv market. I still see the "Hit it!" tough and powerful brand commercials for Dodge. One commercial had the Nitro being so dense it fell through the earth all the way to China. Honda and Toyota are touting their fuel efficiency.

Of the three, Chrysler has been the most innovative. Charger, Challenger, Magnum, 300C, PT, Jeeps and an excellent engine line up to go with them. I don't know why they can't make money.

From what I have read, Buick is one of the most popular brands in China. They could kill it off here, but it would trash their sales in Aisa.

Ford's looking for something to put the Taurus name on. :-)
