Congrats...
My dingy "friend girl" had to turn her thesis tonight (Davenport Online), and she called me earlier in a tizzy because she needed to do a Table of Contents in Word (on Windows) and didn't know how to do it, Of course she waited until the last possible minute (it was due at Midnight). I wasn't at the computer when she called and didn't know how to do it from memory. She had to go through the entire doc and change styles to Headline which messed up her formatting. I basically told her where to go to have it generate the Table of Contents and how to do it and left her there with about 3 and 1/2 hours to go. She kept hinting "Can you just do it for me? I hate this computer stuff" She bought one of those AOL computers from CompUSA years ago when I was talking to her about a Mac and she said "She needed something -"BUSINESS LIKE" so she needed to have Windows. My tech support ended there - THANK GOD! I should call her and see if she got it done in time (doubt it). I think I will wait, she still had a lot of "final touches" to put on it. I hope she gets it done eventually.

She learned a very important lesson. Don't make stupid mistakes.

She only needs to make smart mistakes.

Funny thing is she liked the price of the AOL computer ($299) BUT it required a 2 year commitment of AOL service.
I tried to explain that at $25 per month (AOL dial up) for 24 months (about $600) was eating up any savings on the computer because she could get a ISP for about $15 cheaper or spend $10-15 more and get HiSpeed access. She did the stint with AOL AND kept some form of Prodigy service. She also worked as a Pharmaceutical so her company gives her a Internet allowance of about $50 per month. Go figure... Perfect timing: she just called to ask me how to do the Table of Contents again. Not bad 2 hours late so far. Gotta give her some help.
