Shelf life of ink cartridges

What do you think of shelf life or "sell by date" for ink cartridges?

I have three HP cartridges that are 2 - 3 years past the dates. I've never had problems, but since I sold the printer, I'm having trouble selling them on ebay because everyone thiinks these are expiration dates.

Thoughts and experience please.

How much do you expect to sell them for? Close to retail?
How much is the competiton selling them for?

The easiest solution is to trade them in at one of the office supply stores. You will get $3 credit for each one. OfficeDepot OfficeMax Staples will give you credit for them.

I have used some really, really old toner for my 16/1600.
8 years old.
Never a problem.
You are selling as an individual, not a store. Do not post the dates....


That goes for toner, only.
