Trump attorneys, only the best
#1
In a filing from the Manhattan District Attorney’s office on Tuesday, prosecutors revealed that Mr Trump’s attorney Todd Blanche had tried to subpoena former District Attorney Supervising Rackets Investigator Jeremy Rosenberg in March, to seek files related to the Republican presidential candidate’s former lawyer Michael Cohen.

However, it transpired that Mr Blanche made an embarrassing mistake – sending the subpoena to a man from Brooklyn also called Jeremy Rosenberg.

While the man shares the same name as the former DA’s office investigator, he has zero connection to the criminal case against the former president.

The subpoenaed Rosenberg had some fun with it though in replying to Trump's legal staff.

“I don’t have any files for you,” the apparently bemused Brooklynite wrote back, according to a filing from the former president’s legal team.

He added: “PS - The phone number you provided was disconnected.

“PPS - I’m keeping the fifteen dollars,” he added, referencing the money Mr Trump’s lawyers had sent him to help pay for sending the documents.

Trump's attorney complained to the court that the actual Rosenberg was being flippent and dismissive of the subpoena. Prosecuters then informed the court that the defense had actually subpoenaed the wrong person.

This is so weird.

They should have reached out to the DA's office for his address. If the DA wanted to make a big deal out of it then they might have had to ask the clerk of the court to request his address from the DA's office.

They have legit reasons for getting Jeremy Rosenberg's testimony. There are indications that he acted outside of his authority in the Cohen case. There's no good reason not to go through proper channels.

Instead... What do you suppose they did? Google for Jeremy Rosenberg and pick the first one that came up in NY?

Trump files another last-ditch attempt to delay hush money trial

Oh my God. Give it up!

On Wednesday, Trump’s lawyers appealed Merchan’s ruling that presidential immunity did not protect Trump from being prosecuted for violating New York tax and campaign finance laws when he paid Daniels $130,000 during the 2016 presidential election to hide an alleged extramarital affair with Daniels...

He wasn't president then. Even if you were to accept the very problematic Trump assertion that presidents have absolute immunity, how do claim "presidential immunity" for something you did before you were president?

:RollingEyesSmiley5:

I hope the few sane remaining members of the SCOTUS have a response already typed up for his appeal there.

This week alone, appeals court judges have denied Trump’s efforts to delay the trial while Trump appeals Merchan’s refusal to change the venue from Manhattan to Staten Island.

Because a jury in that part of NYC hasn't heard of the case? Is fairer, somehow? :dunno:

He should appeal for a change of venue to Mars. Or Pluto.

Trump’s lawyers have also unsuccessfully appealed >Merchan’s refusal to recuse himself from the case, >his ruling that Daniels can testify, as well as >his decision that the case can move forward on the merits and be held in state, rather than federal, court.

With Tuesday’s latest ruling from Kern, Trump has now lost 10 previous attempts to delay the start of the hush money trial.

Next up: Trump will complain his Constitutional rights to a "speedy trial" have been infringed.

Turns out, the polling says that the American public actually cares about this case.

I am surprised.

But it explains why he's desperate to get this court case delayed until after the election.

While it seems the trial will not be televised, there will probably be live coverage by a number of news orgs, and why not? It ticks so many boxes - Politician infidelity while your wife is pregnant(!) - especially the hypocrisy of one so widely supported by conservative evangelicals-, porn star, hush money/election fraud. And both Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen are ready and willing to testify. (Geez, I hope they do!)

Is it going to make Deplorables change their vote to Biden? I doubt it, but it might be souring enough to lead them to stay home in November. I don’t really see any Trumpian upside to the trial. Even if they sneak a Trumpie on to the jury and it ends up hung despite clear evidence of guilt - even with Don incessantly wailing in ALL CAPS about “election interference”, and how badly he’s being treated and how unfair it all is - it’s gonna be ugly.
