Trump's jury is selected
#1
The 12-member jury has been selected, now the court needs the six alternates. It should go fairly quickly tomorrow as both sides have used all their challenges and now must show cause for dismissal.

The trial will likely start on Monday.

I presume this means they seated the initial 5 or 6 the other day, 2 of whom dropped out when they had their identities sufficiently compromised by the media that acquaintances figured out they were on the jury... and then seated another 7-8 to get to 12.

I do not envy these people the role of being on this jury, although I do very much appreciate them doing their civic duty. I hope the media and court security can avoid bringing about a mistrial due to insufficient number of jurors left to complete the trial.

The judge had already ordered that Jury members not be identified, he went further and said their employer may not be identified. That occurred because won seated jury had to be released because she feared being identified after her job was said in a media report.

The defense also asked for the names of the first prosecution witnesses. The prosecution said they normally would give them but declined because of Trump's social media history.

I like the idea of anonymous jurors, at least in this case. otherwise, they would have cause to fear for their lives.

An additional six New Yorkers have been selected to serve on Trump’s jury, bringing the total number to 12 primary jurors and one alternate.

Based on what I heard about selection, I have no idea how you find people who don't have an opinion about Trump. I assume They've found 12+ people with portions of their brains removed.

One would think they would've empaneled more than one alternate. Less chance for a mistrial.

How many jurors need to vote one way or another to reach a verdict?
